I was wondering if Agatha was a Squib but clearly she's just suffered from various Obliviate charms. Excellent chapter.

"'Look, statistics show that one person in ten in Britain believes in space aliens, crop circles, and/or the Loch Ness monster. The fastest growing religions in this country are Witchcraft and the Jedi Knights. And don't even get me started about Elvis!'"

Crop circles and Nessie are in Fantastic Beasts, since when did the Jedi Knights become a religion, and I'll bet 'space aliens' and Elvis impersonators can be produced by magic.

"'Arthur, this is on the very cutting edge, where science and magic and spirituality all get mixed together and we really don't know what's going on.'"

Oh yeah. Love this. Update already.

Ishtar replied:

On the 2001 census in Great Britain, a large number of people wrote "Jedi Knights" as their religion in response to an internet sendaround that said it could be established as a legitimate faith if enough people chose it.   This was not true, of course, but there were over 390,000 peope who went along with it and filled in "Jedi" on the "other" line (that made it the fourth-largest reported "religion").   A large number of others put down "Witchcraft" or "Wicca" on the "other" line as well.   Neither of these is "official", but the number of people who selected these is interesting.   If they were official, they'd be the fastest-growing faiths in the country.   I took some liberties in predating this ... assuming that the Inspector is well-versed in the weirdos that populate the fringe culture.   The joke was intended to show how even in the modern world, magic will find its way in.

Everything Agatha says about her cases, and the theory behind Recurrent Spontaneous Psychokinesis, is typical of studies of the paranormal and quantum physics.   I did my homework on this one.   CSICOP may differ with me, but that's OK, I don't believe in them.   *eg*

I'll try to update soon.   I'm not happy with how long it's been, either.

Okay, I was just rereading your story, and something that I wondered about before, then forgot came back.
Who was Agatha's teenage girl firestarter? Apparently, she was a witch, and Agatha was Obliviated. Who was it? Or is it going to be part of the story later?

quite brilliant story - i like the way you let the ministry fail to keep up with modern information technology yet the "Muggles" still tend to explain it away ;)
I am rather curious about the frogs - what would be the cause for them to appear ? was it even because of Harry or maybe something different or someone else ?

I think you write a great story that is very "realistic" in HP canon with many details uniquely yours

I hope and i think it looks like Harry will be going to the U.S.A. soon which i was hoping was already the case at this amount of chapters though i keep finding installments of "Harry Potter and the endless summer" good reads despite the date moving slowly ;)

I look forward to reading your ideas of the american wizarding culture and enjoyed the "preview by dumbledore" about a rather wild mix of different magical cultures from all over the world as opposed to the traditional british approach.

Cheers

PS: Please excuse any torture of the english language - i'm a german (hello from Berlin) and have never been to an english country for more than a holiday - my english is a product of average teachers and too much time spent on internet games and reading ;)
