did I miss something?
at place;
"Please note that in view of the arrangements required for this exchange program, participating students have been given a one-time release from the restrictions on the use of magic while underage. For participants in this program only, the school year is considered to have begun on August 1, and they may therefore use what magic is necessary to prepare for their journey."
It say (( August 1 ))
and if I can recall Harrys b-day have been (July 31) and after that days past - and then his days at hospital. And now it must be aug 10 - at minimum.
Tha story - Well at start it was - SLOW -,
And I see how it gow. - God plot - so far.
With things hapening in the bakground - that is good too, *cos it's like real life.
Best regards
/Bill

Harry is getting his letter late. He should have received it the day Dudley assaulted him, but Dumbledore didn't give it to him until he was safely out of the hospital. But the August 1 date explains why the Ministry didn't go after Harry for Underage Magic.

My only criticism of an otherwise wonderful fic is this: would Dumbledore seriously send Harry somewhere where he wasn't taught DADA as part of the school curriculum? He has to face down Moldieshorts still, and however lax Dumbledore is about other aspects of Harry's safety, he does seem to want him to live through it. Otherwise: giggled my head off at Fred and Harry kissing and loved the surprise party.
Ishtar replied:
Dumbledore doesn't have many choices. He knows that the Americans are some of the best when it comes to DADA, perhaps because only those who are truly interested participate. And he knows what their program is like, which Harry doesn't, yet. His only other option is Durmstrang, which is a Bad Idea for many reasons, or pulling Harry out of school entirely and giving him private tutoring, which is also not helpful because Voldemort can beat anyone who would be providing the tutoring.

I'm enjoying this story! In particular I loved the "H. POTTR'S ROOM" inscription in the cupboard ... several fanfics I've read have had Weasleys or others inspect Harry's old cupboard, and I've often thought something like "MY NAME IS HARRY AND I AM SIX TODAY" written on a wall would increase the pathos. So I was delighted to see you do that here, satisfied an itch I've had for a long time.
Thanks for the story!
