Hi, I'm generally a lurker, because I can't abid writing reviews of "Great Chapter, keep it coming". which most of mine would be. However I've really enjoyed this story so far and hop to follow it to the end. I also have to ask ... is "Family Values" a dead issue? It was the best Harry x Addams crossover I had found then before it just stopped. [And in truth, I must admit that now Tenhawk's character of (Ravenclaw) Wednesday Addams in "Alexander Harris and the Shadow Council", a mamouth "Harry Potter x Addams Family x BVTS" triple cross over, (where Harry is just part of the supporting cast) and her boyfriend, at Hogwarts, (Slytherin) Xander Harris, pretty much trumps any other " x Addams" story I have seen now] .

Thank you for reading, and I'm doing to do my damnedest to finish this thing. I don't think it's going to be too monstrously huge, which is my usual problem - I get too ambitious with my story. The Addams Family Xover is an example of that. I stopped writing when I did because of a serious problem with depression that pretty much stopped my doing anything creative. I still have my outline and notes and scenes that I wrote back then, and hope to kick myself into gear and work on it again, but I know myself well enough to make no promises. All I can say is that I will try.

"thirty-seven missing houses in London?" 37 Fidelius? I’m sure that some people would be shocked to know they can be broken that easily! (Yes! I know that Sherlock was then "distracted" from investigating more, but it means that a wizard with more two brain cells to rub together that would actively be looking for them would find them!)

They're not all, or even mostly, under the Fidelius. They're mostly under Unplottability, Disillusionment, Notice-Me-Not, Muggle-Repelling, or similar types of charms. Combinations of these charms can make a house pretty much invisible to people who aren't keyed in to the spells, but Sherlock can observe the discrepancies and deduce where they have to be, even if he can't see them.

The snake is very much in Gryffindor colors, but Sherlock wasn't going to see it as such since he doesn't know about Gryffindor yet.

I've gone through the first eight chapters of this in the last couple of nights, and I wanted to give you a quick thumbs up for this. Mystery is an area where the HP fandom can often be quite lacking, and you've picked the perfect crossover to bring it out in spades. Well done.

Ishtar is correct about the numbering.

It's likely that Grimmauld Place is effectively separately named from the street is belongs to, and is set back from it slightly, forming three side of a square with the communal "park" fronted by the three sides of houses. The numbers would not be continuous from the street it forms a part of (and which, yes, will likely have odd numbers on the left starting from 1 and evens on the right, starting from 2). The "terraced" housing would likely be of two and a half or three stories.

The central area would not normally be called a "commons" though (although a "common" is a communally owned piece of land, often of fairly wide expanse, where "commoners" would have held "common rights" to graze a certain number of sheep, take a certain amount of wood or other materials etc- it's quite a tendentious subject among rural people in some areas), and these days may well be kept up by the local council or a residents' association.

...and... damn, Snape's alive? Maybe the title was wrong after all, and it should have been "missing wizards" :)

Oh, yeah... Brilliant! I have a yearning for Hermione's (or Sirius' or Remus') pov. What is she thinking when she's around Sherlock!Harry? Isn't she reckognising anything about him at all, or is it just that she's very good at keeping it to herself? And Remus, noticing "something else" about him. When will it click? WIll it click before Sherlock reveals himself as Harry?

And then there's the thing with the memory saved for Harry specifically. He needs to reveal himself before grabbing that one. Because I doubt that he will be playing with the pensive without any trained wizards nearby.

Now, I am also very curious about how this gradual unbinding will affect him. Will he then begin to remember stuff from before it happened? Will his pre-Sherlock memories and knowledge return? Will he remember his spellwork and defence abilities? I do hope he does.

You know, the more I rea dof this, the more I love it. You've c aptured the characters rerally well. I'm looking forward to Hemione's reaction when Sherlock is revealed as Harry. Mount Vesuvius will be nothing in comparison!

One thing though. Why hasn't anyone picked up on the fact that Sherlock was able to use Harry's rune array? Shouldn't that be limited to just Harry?

Sherlock ran the labyrinth inward, putting energy in. Hermione ran the labyrinth outward, taking magic out ('Strength to my friends' - he made it accessible to other people to borrow his magic) which she promptly had to use somehow. When Sherlock later confirms to her tht he ran it, he lets her believe he ran it outwards as well, so she believes that magic jumpstarted breaking the block on Sherlock's magic. She does not yet know Sherlock can put magic into it as well as taking magic out of it.

Sorry, Sherlock missed 4 houses? If they were all under the Fidelius, how would even Hermione know about them all? (so I wonder if her list of 41 includes all 37 of Sherlock's?) And the fact there are 'lost house' groups is hardly surprising; there mush be a large number of 'squibs' who are 'muggle born' -- not connected to the magical world in any way but with enough magic to ignore muggle-repelling wards etc.

Funny that without the horcrux, Harry/Sherlock looks more like his maternal grandmother's family (a Black) than James Potter . . . or Tom Riddle

Not all of them are under the Fidelius - that's actually a fairly rare charm. What the Missing Houses have is a combination of Unplottability, Notice-Me-Not, Muggle-Repelling and probably other charms that result in them not being seen by most people. Sherlock has tracked them down by noticing the inconsistencies that most people don't, then looking up old records, information about the installation of gas and electric services, sewer connections, and so on. The four he missed are among the ones he wrote off as having been destroyed by bombing during WWII.

As for the missing houses elsewhere, I swear that there is a street in New York City that is there sometimes and sometimes it isn't - it's called "Iffin Court", and if that isn't a Wizard name, I don't know what is. In the town where I lived as a teenager, there was one massive Addams-Family style Victorian in a street full of 1950's split ranches that I could find accidentally, but if I went looking for it, it wasn't there. So I think there would be people researching them and sharing data, just as there are 'abandoned places' aficionados.

As for Sherlock's looks, there are reasons, and not just because I'm using Benedict Cumberbatch's face for Sherlock ...

Hmm - does England have roads where the houses are sequential in number on one side? I would think #12 would be bracketed by #10 and #14, not #11 and #13. I'm not English, nor ever been there, so I couldn't say, but here in the US, I've never seen that. It's always even houses on one side, and odd houses on the other. You see that in most fanfics, so not seeing it here makes me wonder.

Hoping to see Sherlock doing his schtick on the memories next time! :)

Grimmauld Place is described as a "small square" in OotP, and 12 Grimmauld is bracketed by 11 and 13, so that's HP canon. If it was a regular street, yes, it would be even on one side and odd on the other, but it's a dead-end where the houses are numbered in sequence clockwise around it.

The relevant quote from OotP is: "Harry thought, and no sooner had he reached the part about number twelve, Grimmauld Place, than a battered door emerged out of nowhere between numbers eleven and thirteen, followed swiftly by dirty walls and grimy windows."

From the description of Grimmauld Place in OotP, it was a pretty nasty place, but that area of London has gone upscale in twenty years and it's much nicer now.
