Any chance of a prequel?

Ishtar replied:

Afraid not.   You really know everything you need to know from the story itself - how Voldemort was vanquished,  how Dumbledore fought the delaying action and how Harry et al. got together with their Significant Others is irrelevant to the point of the story, which was reversing the way the usual Marriage Law story works.   I was considering showing how Lucius, Draco and Pansy did in their marriages, but decided that adding any more to it would attenuate the humor.

Like it? I loved it! I had to wait almost 10 minutes to stop laughing. It is perfect poetic justice in my opinion. Tell me does Percy get his bride? Why marry Harry to Susan? Neville and Hermione? Didn't see that one coming. What about Ron and Ginny? Who got stuck with them?

Ishtar replied:

I'm glad you liked it!   Yes, Percy gets Pansy.   With the Parkinson money behind him, he eventually becomes Minister of Magic and Pansy is the perfect political wife, and they both live happily ever after.   (Actually, I intended for everyone - even Lucius and Draco - to have "happy endings" even if it took them a while to get there - I just didn't think the follow-ups would be funny enough to be good sequels to this story.)   Who exactly Harry and Hermione married was kind of irrelevant to the story, and I didn't like any of the canon relationships, so my thinking went like this: Harry needed someone with Hufflepuff loyalty, and Susan's connections in the Ministry will keep them off his back even if he doesn't go for a political career.   Neville is studious enough to satisfy Hermione and has the knowledge of the Wizarding world to let her know if one of her enthusiasms goes too far.   Ron can "claim" a Muggle-born spouse if he wants (if he gets a move on and finds one with money before someone else snaps her up.   Who knows? Maybe he saved some nice Muggle-born girl from having to marry Crabbe or Goyle.   Dumbledore certainly made sure everybody that might be affected had time to do something about it.   Ginny is too young to take advantage of the law, and it's likely to be repealed in haste before she leaves school.

Well, if only you had made it Ginny and Ron instead of Susan Bones and Neville, it would have been perfect!

Ishtar replied:

(a) That would have been too obvious and (b) I don't like the canon pairings much - particularly Ron/Hermione.
