Oh, brother!!! The whole family will move to England when Harry does? I don't know who has more to worry from that, Dumbles or Fudge; in either case it's going to cause the purebloods some delightful conniption fits.

lovely chapter - the image of the boys at play with their little seige engines just warms the heart.
It is really too bad that Dumbledore is not more conversant with sporting idiom, after all, cricket , baseball's ancestor, uses the concept of 3 strikes also.

I don't know much about cricket, and the rules I found didn't make sense to me at all, but the term "strike" there seemed to relate to the person  actually hitting the ball rather than missing it.   I could be wrong, of course, and will gratefully accept a Brit-pick on this.

One does so want AD to be bashed.
Great story, but I hate waiting more than a day for an update. You couldn't work out maybe two updates a day, could you? In order of bashing: LV, AD, SS, LM, DM, VD, PD, DD.
It would be nice if the Addams had Occlumancy and Legilimency knowledge. Hate having Harry and his friends always being mind-raped by AD and SS.

Unfortunately, I have to work for a living, and they actually expect me to do work at the office.   (Imagine!)   So it's very difficult to get out even  a chapter a day, given the length of my chapters.   I was originally shooting for 2,000 word chapters, but that's just too short.   We'll have to settle for what we can get.

I'm trying to figure out how to get the Occlumency in there.   I sort of like the idea of Snape bouncing off Harry's brain.

I seem to recall that in canon, "abracadabra" is a corruption of "Avada Kedavra" that made it into Muggle culture, and wizarding folks tend to very much disapprove of anyone using it. The latter part might not be true in America (language shifts and all), but it seems unlikely that anyone would have developed a legitimate spell with an incantation that close to that of the Killing Curse...

(Mind you, Mr. Blair did seem remarkably relaxed considering that Pugsley just cast a spell that, in England, would have gotten him life in Azkaban without possibility of parole, so maybe attitudes to the Unforgivables are different in the US.)

I look forward to seeing what happens when the kids go to Hogwarts, as it's clear they will. I can't help thinking that Slytherin will be at least one student short by the end of Wednesday's education, though; if she's anything like her regular self, she will be in Slytherin (she's pretty damn ruthless in getting what she wants - it's just that usually what she wants is not personal power, but for people to go away and leave her in peace), and I can't see her getting along at all well with the simpering Draco fangirls, let alone Draco himself...

I got this out of Wikipedia, the Avada Kedavra entry, so make of it what you will:   'The name of this curse is related to the popular "mumbo-jumbo" magical phrase Abracadabra, which is actually of Aramaic  origin: avra (or abara) means "I will create"; k'davra means "as I speak". Thus, abracadabra, "I will create as I speak". Similarly, avada means "I will destroy". So, in Rowling's world, the killing curse literally means "I will destroy as I speak", a pretty fair description of its effects.'

So there are actually two words, avara kedavra and avada kedavra.   I mention the avara form as a major conjuration spell.   I'd think it would be a very powerful spell which might actually be used to bring things to life, like golems or chimaeras, perhaps.   The avada form, differing by one letter, kills as the other creates.

The U.S. does have a much more relaxed attitude to the Killing Curse because their recent history is different.   The Killing Curse is an accepted method of self-defense, and also a way of hunting or slaughtering animals humanely.   They know people are going to learn the spell; what they want to do is make sure they use it responsibly (i.e., as infrequently as possible).   With the wand he has, Pugsley literally can't kill anything larger than a bug, so Blair isn't terribly concerned.

Draco vs. Wednesday, oh yeah ... and then you have to figure that Harry will defend his betrothed.   It's going to get messy.

That was rather cool ... the kids working out how wanded magic worked. And that was some nightmare. I liked how Morticia talked to Harry about it, and that the family will return to England with him when he goes. The family motto had me chuckling.

Over all, a fun chapter. That was a rather dark note on which you ended. Now to see what Dumbledore has in store for Harry next.

Awww... it's so fun to "grow up Addams." I wanna grow up Addams, too!!! :( whine, whine, complain, complain. ;) heheheh. Good thing I never grew up! Now I'm free to do so. That kinda freaked me out when Pugsley cast that spell; interesting safety feature those wands have. And way to go Morticia, with that Hocus Pocus! :-D hehehe. Scary dream poor Harry had; interesting how it merged with the Addams' House. Don't think I didn't catch the reference to the tomb of Charles Addams being so important and safe. ;) hehehe.
