Great start to the first year. I like that this Harry is being treated a little different by Snape. There are different circumstances, only slight from Snape's perspective, and that would change things. I love the bunny of the introduction spell. I think that the four of them should ask Monny and Padfoot if they can use the name Mauraders for their new group. If and when the Twins see the name in blazing letters over a prank, their reaction will be priceless.

The only problem is how Harry will disavow knowledge and guilt when everyone now knows that his father and his 'Uncles' were the originals.

Of course, canon does not say how they came up with the name. You could have some fun with the name reoccuring several times throughout the history of Hogwarts and Hermione using that knowledge to show that Harry is not guilty. It could be anyone, afterall.

Thank you for writing.

Mike.

I hope Severus won't forget to get his winnings from Sirius and Remus the next time he meets them.

I really like the refreshing twists of a more mature Snape, etc. (I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with the Malfoys), but really hope that someone can write a good-intentioned-if-slightly-meddling Dumbledore instead of the evil-manipulative-fill-your-favorite-insult type that I keep finding.

I'm also not sure that Dumbledore has any say in Mr. Hat's decision, esp. without the intoxicants found in fabric softeners (I think I got that right?).

Waiting for the next chapter.

ps. is it just me or should the next chapter be titled "The New Marauders"?

Great chapter! Thanks for updating!
I'm looking forward to more potions lessons. Do keep us updated on them.
Will Harry be using Voldie's old wand for DADA, assuming they get around to using wands at all? Dumbledore would probably freak if he ever found out that Harry has it and that he can actually use it ;) Are you going to write a scene like that?
I also like different sortings you introduced. It serves to make this AU differ somewhat more from canon. Although I do feel a little sorry for Tracey... Is Ron going to make more than token appearances or is he only a minor character in your fic?
I'd like to read the scene where Dumbledore has that talk with the hat about reassigning Harry. I bet the hat wasn't quite as forthcoming as the old wizard made it out to be... So do we have a Manipulating!Dumbledore in this fic?
The introduction ritual into Hufflepuff was a nice touch, and it fits well with the image of loyalty.
Tracey said her parents are some kind of 'merchants'. Is there more to that, or are they really 'just' merchants?

Well, that's all I can think of for now. Keep up the good work! :)

One minor nit to pick:

"You might belong in Hufflepuff,
Where they are just and loyal,
Those patient Hufflepuff's are true
And unafraid of toil;"

I believe in book one JKR does not use an apostrophe to pluralize anything. Other than that - excellent, excellent chapter. This continues to be a blast to read. Thanks, and update soon!!

Great! Absolutely beautiful! I hope you won't mind if I use your own constructed words about Hufflepuff; they sort of changed my view on the house of loyalty, - and rightfully so.

I applaud your work, - please update again soon!

Oh, my, the changes are coming faster now. It's going to be most interesting to see where you take this.

In the top you mentioned the girls that Harry will be paired with. Now I am hoping that he will not be as tactless as was done in OOTP, because well it just doesn't seem like the Harry you have developed.

Overall it is a pretty good chapter although I am still wondering why he wounld't get his own wand that would work properly for everything instead of alternating between his mother's wand and his dad's wand.

Wow! Harry the Hufflepuff?!?!?! The hat seems to be a lot more capricious than I thought, putting him in that house just because of a desire to help out Tracey. I'm surprised that would outweigh his innate 'gryffindorness'. But my big question is - why Hermione in Ravenclaw? I mean, nothing *changed*, as far as I can see, to affect her sorting. She's still quoted here as saying that "Gryffindor is the best", so it can't be personal preference. I'm really curious about why she went into Ravenclaw.

Otherwise you seem to have things set up for a rollicking good time, with a quartet drawn from each of the houses. It'll be fun to see what they get up to! Thanks for this chapter!

I became a bit oncufsed near the end where the conversations lapped over a bit. But all in all I felt giddy as I read the chapter. I really don't have anything to comment on except Harry being in Hufflepuff. Entirely unexpected, but not unwelcomed.

Oh, that was great! I kept reading, and reading, and when I thought the chapter was going to end, it didn't! Potions class was perfect! I was hoping you were going to have it as part of this chapter, and I was so happy to see it.

The new marauders are a great idea, and I can't wait to see that developed further.

Love his friends, and I love the fact that they are in each of the four houses even more. You're ideas about Hufflepuff are great and refreshing. They are passed off so often as the generic house, even in canon (which is a big mistake of Rowlings), but you've characterized them beautifully. I can't wait to read more. Keep up the good work!

Merry holidays.

Great story,
keep up the good work.

Opinions are like assholes.
Everyone has one - but some just smell worse than others.

varry nice chapter, not many stories about him being in huffilpuff wich be nice change for once.

i do hope this turns out to be a anti dumbledor fic those are always fun to read , i do like you chose of friends but did you have put hermione in it she is like a bad cold you can never get rid of it, but each one one in diffrent house wich is strange if you ask me.

my vote when it get to romance it be a harry /tracy pairing.

i see malfoy personality hasent changed since he daddy turned coat on the dark side.

i do hope his life id better then it was in canon . in canon he could not catch a brake to save his life.

Nice to see Harry finally in school. The choice of Huffelpuff is, I think, unique, thinking back over all the HP fanfiction I've read. I'm really interested to see where this goes. Please update soon.

I dig it, but Harry doesn't seem like he was really raised with the "Marauder" mentality.

Anyway, I hope you update again soon. I also thought Harry knew some jinxes and stuff (you mentioned Peter teaching them to Harry and using Voldemort's wand for it.)

Sweet! Excellent job with the trip to Hogwarts and bringing in Tracy! Excellent job with the new quartet....The sorting was good as was the next morning with dumble's trying to convince him to resort and all that. Great chapter, maybe my fav so far! Excellent job!

I like how the Three became Four and that you sorted each into a different house. Looking forward to reading more of Hufflepuff!Harry.

What a Hufflepuffy reason for wanting to go to Slytherin. Good job.

I also liked your handling of the first potions class. Well, I just liked it all actually and hope you update soon.

Fascinating. I can certainly understand Severus's initial reaction when he reailized about Harry, though it gives me hope for this incarnation how he reacted after class. Overall, an amusing chapter, I was suprised at the way you wound up sorting the students, not standard fair, but it should make for an interesting story. Conveniant that the next generation of Marauders have a student in each house, isn't it?

Hm ... a nice chapter, but I hope that Harry isn't going to take too much of Hermione's stuck-up know-it-all attitude. Never had much time for bookworm types ... I love the way Harry lies to and ignores Hermione in the fifth and sixth books. Don't mind the afore-mentioned opinion since ... it is, after all, an opinion. And I hope that there isn't too much H/Hr in his transition stages ...

I don't believe in all those fics(not that they are bad or anything; I like most of them) which showcase Harry as a know-it-all who spends his time learning from books. Hermione is the one who reads and goes by the rules. I think Harry is more of the doing-whetever-he-wants-and-breaking-all-rules-including-magic type.

The Hufflepuff House sorting was a surprise but I don't mind at all as long as they win the House Cup. *wink*

Update as fast as you can.

So. There was nothing new on Ashwinder, nothing at Checkmated, nothing to beta, and I was on the verge of withdrawal, when... BEHOLD! More Fidelius! And it continues to be fabulous! I'm so glad you're continuing with it :) I look forward to more as soon as you have it ready. Happy New Year! Michelle
