Okay, the ring I get, but not the book in the room.

The Diagon Alley trust is cool. That will create a nice stir, won't it.

But I *am* disappointed that we didn't get to tweak Albus' nose in this chapter. Oh, I suppose we did, but only offstage. :-)

Bad writer, not telling us how Harry terrorized the Little Hangleton boys.

Oh, and "oy vey" ?? come on!

Things are coming along nicely. Now then, off to Hogwarts next? Hmm, we didn't have the encounter with Draco in the alley this time around, I noticed. That does make me wonder what you've got in store for us (and him) on the train, and the sorting of course.

Hmm, you haven't mentioned the sorting, but surely Remus has. I do wonder what Harry will choose. Oh, silly me, Addams is probably first in the alphabet!! Harry is going to ask to go wherever Wednesday goes! Well then, where is Wednesday going to ask to go!? Hmm, She will know about the houses from Remus, and probably they've done some research on them as well. So, will they have the anti-Slytherin bias? Remus is a fair man, but he might still have a bit of that. Not to mention telling them stories about his youth, and Harry' parents, might have stirred up longings in them.

Poor Dorothy, you're probably going to be criticized no matter which of the four you put him in!

best,
...art

Ishtar replied:

The book is Riddle's notes and instructions.   He wasn't about to do those chants from memory.

There will be plenty of Dumbledore tweaking later, never fear.

I couldn't come up with anything evil enough, and didn't want to delay the chapter for something that wasn't really relevant.   I'm sure you can think of something evil to do to them.

Harry grew up in New Jersey.   Trust me, he knows "oy vey".

Very nice! Love the details about the Diagon Alley Trust and its power plays. Love the way the kids have inadvertently, struck a blow against Tom and his mad schemes.

Am I very much mistaken in assuming that their new home is currently referred to as "the Riddle House" and is located in Little Hangleton? Nice touch, Dorothy

Very good! Please continue.

At first I was thinking the shreaking shack, but then it hit me, of course, the riddle house!

What fun!

I have to admit, when I first started reading this fanfic, I thought it was going to be a farce. BUt I was WRONG!! I have thoroughly enjoyed the portrayal of Morticia, Gomez, Fester, Grandmama, Lurch, and Thing, along with the children of course. Your portrayal of the character reminds me strongly of Angelica Huston and Raul Julia as they played Morticia and Gomez (one of my fave couples btw)! The detail you have gone into about the house and grounds is outstanding - keep up the great work! I eagerly look forward to the next chapter!

I have also enjoyed reading your fic "Fidelius" and I hope that there will be a new chapter soon. Its been way too long, although I know how RL has the habit of interfering...dammit all!!

Anyway, keep up the wonderful work!

Ariene

Thank you very much.   It would be hard to keep up a farce for 100,000+ words, which is what this seems to be aiming for (and while I can do short comedy, I've never tried a true farce).   I think the humor level I have done so far in FV is more sustainable.   I love the Addams Family in all three of its incarnations and I'm trying to juggle all three to come up with something that won't be too incongruous with the HP world, which I also love.   My mental images of the characters are those of the movies (the first two, not the direct to video thing with Daryl Hannah as Morticia).   The house is modeled after one I visited when I was a teenager, but bigger.

I will be returning to Fidelius (and Junior Year Abroad) after NaNoWriMo is over.   I'm going to try to kick myself into getting at least one chapter of something out per week.   Maybe more, but at least that.

What a wonderful and quirky fic! I recognized a few things from cartoons and some others from the movie. Nicely done. Love how they keep Dumbles off kilter and how they took Remus in.

Oh, thank you thank you thank you for this story. I love the Adams family, and I love HP stories, especially alternate histories for Harry's upbrining.

I am enjoying this story tremendously, and look forward to the next chapter.

Wow. I'm not usually a big fan of crossovers, but this is good stuff. Your Gomez is done really well, I can imagine him saying that in my head. Let's just say I'm eagerly awaiting the arrival in the new home.

This is a HOOT!!!!!

Some of my favorite books as a teenager were the collections of Charles Addams cartoons.

Hogwarts doesn't know what is going to hit it!!!

Uh-oh. I'm smelling something about Little Haggleton (sp?) in this chapter.

Boy, is ol' Tommy gonna be in for a surprise!

I'm pulling for all three to be sorted into Hufflepuff.

No one takes them seriously. Everyone will assume they're harmless. So, when the entire house (enamored with the inherent loyalty in the Addams family) joins in with an attack on Snape, all the teachers, or the whole school, they won't know how to react.

How will Draco react when the Huffs no longer cower in fear of his gang, but try to scalp him? (That might be a too obvious derivation from the second movie, but I'm sure you could find some other deadly theme to hang here)

If you want some suggestions, I always thought Guy Fawkes night was underused. Explosives under the Staff or Slytherin table? After all, if the administration fails to listen to the peaceful complaints against Snape, the next logical step is open revolt, surely. And the gunpowder plot was the only significant attempt to revise parliament that had a chance of success.

Another thing I'd like to see would be the children leaving hints that they could visit the other house's dormrooms with impunity. Who cares if purebloods know more spells, if your enemy can bypass your wards when sleeping. Sure the Slytherins might be able to bully and beat up the Huffs, but if they realize they might not wake up some morning, they might not be so keen on animosity.

I'll be happy with whatever you write. these are just the plotdevils whizzing in my brain after reading this.

Okay, that rocked. I'm glad Remus gets along so well with the Addams'. I like how Americans are so progressive about Werewolves, awesome. Honestly, I'm looking forward to the next chapter. Cheers.
